About the Author
Dr. Maritza Y Baez, MD FAAFP is a board-certified Family Physician based in Buffalo NY USA. Community has always been important to her. She is especially thankful to the Buffalo Prep community, of which she has been a part for the past 25+ years, first as a student, then as an advocate and donor. It was through Buffalo Prep that she realized her dream of becoming a family physician.
First, she was awarded a full scholarship to the prestigious Nichols School in Buffalo, NY, where she graduated with highest honors. She then went on to graduate from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology in 3 years instead of 4. Upon graduation, she was named a New York State Regents Health Care Scholar for Medicine and was awarded a full scholarship to study medicine at the University at Buffalo where she graduated top of her class.
For the past 25+ years, she has been giving back to her community. Among other activities, she has volunteered for the City of Buffalo Youth Engaged in Service, given inspirational talks and mentorship to students on the elementary, high school, college and graduate school levels, and served on various community-wide boards. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees at a local Charter School, where she is also Board Secretary.
In 2016, she was inducted into the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences Circle of Leaders for helping to build the medical education floor in the University at Buffalo's new medical school. She was also tapped as a spokesperson for the Count Me In Campaign.
She volunteered on HealthTap.com to answer medical and skincare questions and earned the ranking of #1 in the field of skincare. In her daily medical practice, she counsels patients on overall health and wellness and prides herself in consistently improving Quality and Patient Satisfaction scores. She also has expertise in mentorship, supervisory and managerial roles.
In 2017 she was named Family Physician Educator of the Year for New York State by the New York State Academy of Family Physicians.
She has extensive public speaking experience, ranging from private events to film, television, and radio. Anyone who knows her will tell you she gives 150% to whatever she commits herself. She has been featured in the Buffalo Criterion, Black Western New York Magazine, Jacobs School of Medicine Momentum newsletter, Buffalo Magazine, Buffalo Spree, Western New York Health Magazine, AM Buffalo (TV), The Buffalo News, WNY Living (TV), healthtap.com, Channel 2 Buffalo, Time Warner Cable News, Channel 4 Buffalo, WNLO-TV, CAO radio, WBEN radio, PETA Latino and many other outlets.
Her marketing and ambassador experience began with in-store and on-site event promotions, then in-home product demonstrations and finally as an ambassador for a variety of skincare brands around the world via social media.
As a social media influencer, promotional print and event model, she gained experience with all kinds of events, from runway and stage to magazine, social media, television, radio and film appearances. She was even a hair model for Paul Mitchell.
In 2013 she became a Beauty Skincare and Wellness Ambassador to expand her audience worldwide via social media. For several years, she worked closely with the experts at Pangea Organics to learn about skincare ingredients, application, and marketing. She achieved the rank of Pangea Partner Gold in 2015 by consistently having one of the highest sales volumes in the country among all affiliates. She was also featured in the 2015 Pangea Organics Catalog.
Dr. Maritza Baez is a leader in her local community as well as in the skincare, beauty and wellness spheres state-wide, nationally and internationally. Her audience trusts her recommendations, which you can review for yourself on her social media platforms.
You might have guessed it, but her passions are (in no particular order) beauty, skincare, wellness, education, cruelty-free living, community, and positivity.
She is thrilled to have released her first book, " I am Beauty Watch Me Soar! Skincare, Beauty & Wellness 2020 Annual Planner." Her goal is to publish many more books!
